Mary’s Mother’s Day Photos

Family Portrait | Providence, RI |

I was so excited to photograph these lovely ladies a couple of weekends ago. Talk about the perfect Mother’s Day weekend activity! I’ve known Mary and her daughters, Deanne and Karalyn since I was in elementary school. We did Girl Scouts together and played together in the summer when we were kids… One day after I got home from elementary school my mom had an allergic reaction to something. She called 911 and as the paramedics showed up so did Mary! She came in and rounded up my brother and I so that my mom wouldn’t have to worry about us. I spent the rest of the afternoon doing crafts at Mary’s house and I felt safe. So, thank you Mary! And I’d also like to say a special thank you to Kara’s mother-in-law for tending to little Nora durring the photo session! Leave lots of love in the comments for these lovely ladies!

The Lawson Family

Family Portrait | Seekonk, MA |

I’ve known Dave and Lynn pretty much my whole life. I’ve always connected with Lynn’s aesthetic and I haven’t been fully aware of how much they have influenced my life until recently. I think I just took it for granted. So, I’ve made a list of highlights….

1. I was in their wedding. I may have been 5 or 6 years old. Everyone wore white and all the women had sheer scarfs with a rose pattern printed on it. Some ladies wore it in their hair, as a belt or around their necklace. Lynn carried lilacs. It was in a yard, I think in Jamestown. There was a sea breeze.
2. My brother and I hiked through the woods along a railroad track with Dave one day. I still have a giant railroad spike that we found on the excursion.
3. Going to college to study art. Lynn was the first person that I was aware of who had gone to school for art.
4. Vegetarianism. In memory, Lynn was my first example of a vegetarian. (It was a long time coming but Angel and I are vegetarians too.)
5. Magnetic Poetry on their fridge when I was a kid! Loved it. Now I have some :)
6. My parents were in their Bible Discussion Group when I was a kid.
7. My first viewing of Monty Python and the Holy Grail was at their apartment!
8. Various other memories of being in the woods, on hikes or hayrides with the Lawson’s.
9. I went to a few weddings as a kid where Lynn had made carrot-cake wedding cakes for couples in our church.
10. Our Rhode Island wedding reception was in their backyard. Lynn made our carrot-cake wedding cake for our RI reception. :)
11. Now as an adult my husband and I meet on Fridays at their house for some food, fellowship and Bible discussion with other christians.

So, there is more but those are some highlights. I love you guys! It was such an honor to photograph your family!

PS. The stone wall that the family is sitting on, Dave made it! And the last picture of the post will make even more sense if you know that their oldest daughter is named Abigail :)

The Thorp Family

Family Portrait | Rhode Island |

Some of my favorite people in the whole world. No joke. You will be seeing a lot of them on this blog. When I was a kid I always wanted to be like Rose when I grew up and I still do :) I love you guys. Or how we say it in Rhode Island, “yooozguyyz.”

The Gruel Family

Family Portrait | Providence, RI |

May I present Tara, Ludovic and baby Ethan! Tara and I go way back. She is one of those people that can see past any wall that you may have up. Yet, she’s so much fun and as a result we have some way-inside-jokes going back to our teenage years. And do Tara & Ludovic not have the cutest baby?

Carter Family

Family Portrait | CORSICANA, TEXAS |

When I was posting Jenny & John’s wedding I omitted some of the photos not because I didn’t like them but because they just seemed random when included in the wedding post. Anyway, I still wanted to post them because they are such cute kids! Also, Beth (the Mom) is a photographer in Florida. So, if you are needing a family portrait session in the Florida area check out the Beth Carter Photography website, great stuff!
